The Great Quarantine of 2020

I was looking for a place to record an online journal. A place for to record my thoughts and to reflect on the things going on around me. I wanted something more anonymous than Facebook or Twitter. I revisited Tumbler for a minute, but it didn't seem to fit my purpose either. Then, Google reminded me that I had a blogger once upon a time.

That was the last time I posted. I was really into photography at the time. How much has changed in 8 years. Since then I've moved twice had three different roommates. Changed jobs and was promoted several times. Lost a grandparent and took care of another. Changed churches twice. Adopted another cat. Fell in love.

Now, I'm living through the COVID pandemic.
What a strange time in history we live in. I wonder what sort of stories we'll tell about surviving in such an unusual time. I wonder what sort of  changes will affect our society and culture. No way we go back to life the exact same as it was before.

Admittedly, I've enjoyed being home and spending time outside. I have, however missed the hugs from my students (my preschool has been closed since March 16th), having date night, and getting together with the family. I'd been planning on going to several concerts that have been cancelled or postponed. It just seems like life has been put on hold for a minute.

Even through all this mess, I did take my first cross-country trip to Bakersfield, CA to meet my boyfriend's parents. Seems so odd to have been dating him for almost a year before meeting them, but my schedule and his finally lined up and the flights were so affordable. It was hard to pass up, but that's a story for another time.

It's been rather difficult to keep a positive attitude during the Great Quarantine of 2020. I haven't worked in a month. I miss all my students and co-workers. I miss writing lessons. I miss the feeling accomplishment and meeting goals. I miss being so tired from a long day of work that I can barely stay awake in the evenings.
