Betelgeuse, Betelgeuse, Betelgeuse

My brother and I throw our second annual Halloween party and it was fantastically fun! We absolutely adore Halloween and horror movies so it makes sense that it was themed “Horror Movie”, right? Even though we ran out of food, laughs were found a plenty. In order to have a successful Halloween party one must have a kick butt costume and I wanted to give you guys a little break down of my the ideas behind mine and of course the outcome. After many mind changes, I settled on the iconic character Beetlejuice.

I searched the internet for unique costume inspiration photos and this is what I found! The first inspiring idea came from the-coveted.com. I just love the unique and classy vibe it gaves off (especially the satin gloves and tie!). However, I don't have a very classy style. The second idea is from helloagaingirls.com and honestly this is a bit too edgy for me, but I love love love those boots!
So I have my inspiration and this is how I created my costume for basically nothing. I dug a black dress from my closet and with white duct tape from the craft desk, I applied the stripes vertically. And viola! Dress complete. Since it was really cold the night of the Halloween party, I wore black leggings and a gray 1/3 length shirt (both of which I had in possession). I also had a pair of black fingerless gloves and red hair bow. The red tie was raided from my brother’s closet (with permission, of course!). The only item of my costume that I actually bought was a pair of horizontal striped socks that I put on over the leggings. A pair of black airwalk slip-ons completed the outfit!

As far as make up goes, I didn't get too creative. I just looked at the pictures from the two inspiration sites and replicated the look. I started by drawing the stitches with brown eye liner. I then applied a pale cream costume make up for foundation. I finished up by applying gray eye shadow around the eyes, a little bit of mascara, and clear lip gloss. I did do anything special to my hair because, well, I just ran out of time.

I love the way my costume turned out and apparently so did a lot of other people. I was voted best costume!
