Class of 2012

Image
Kyle is officially a high school graduate! I know it maybe odd to say this, but he isn't just my little brother; he's my best friend. Seriously. We hang out all the time and he gets me better than anyone. Despite having completely different personalities, we enjoy nerding out on the same things and having deep discussions, random discussions. Anyway, I'm super excited for Kyle and his future endeavors. He's is going to his first college of choice and majoring in Mass Communications.

Thomas has class.

Have you ever had one of those moment where you see someone and just want to take pictures of them in the woods? My cousin and friend, Thomas, was hanging at my house recently so I invited him into the backyard to take some shots of him. I'm really glad he agreed because I have several fantastic shots. Thomas is such an awesome dude and is easily the most fashionable guy I know. Also, I would like to mention that both his hat and suspenders were thrift finds.

Family Portraits

My brothers and I decided to give our parents the gift of photos. It's been years since we last took family pictures and since we're all creative types we decided to take them ourselves. We used my camera (Nikon D3000) and 55-200mm lens. Amberly, Trey, and myself took all the images and for the group shot we used the trusty tripod and remote shutter release. I wanted an ageless vibe to the photos and am actually pretty surprised at how well they turned out. Aren't we a lovely group?

Cory, Missy, and Elena!

Four and a half years ago, I was a maid of honor in two of my best friend's wedding. Now, Cory and Missy  are expecting a baby girl. They asked me to capture this special time for them. I, of course, was more than thrilled to have the oppurtunity to do so. I had never taken maternity photos before, but I would love to do it again. It's true that pregnacy brings out the natural beauty of the mother. If fact, both Missy and Cory glow with excitment and overflow with joy. I had such a blast hanging out with those two!

Train Tracks and an Elephant Named Ellie

Image
Last month, I assisted for a friend's photo shoot.  I took a couple of decent shots. It was a very interesting day to say the least. We went to a location beside train tracks to set up a phone table and suitcase props. Then we walked a few blocks to a park and took some shots there as well. All of the ones below are from the train track location.

Night of the Undead

Image
A few months ago, Kyle (read: little brother) asked me to help him with an art project. He need me to take photos of him and Thomas (read: cousin-friend) as undead zombies. Of course, I was more than happy to oblige. Kyle loosely describe what he wanted and we set out to apply the make up effects. Not only was I the photographer, but I also played make-up artist. I'm not very good with make-up, but I think I did a pretty good job as a first timer! I used the phrase "It needs more blood" quite a bit. At any rate, it was a lot of fun taking pictures of those two guys. They make absolutely smashing zombies.

Turkey and Deviled Eggs

Thanksgiving is one of the few times a year my extended family hangs out and it's quite a shame because I actually really like those guys and gals. I was asked to take some photos of the family for my grandparents, but sad as it maybe a several of them were unable to make it. Ah, well at least these kids were and it was quite a blast hanging out and taking their photos.   I hoped you all had a positively wonderful holiday. Now that it is officially the Christmas season, I believe I'll go listen to some festive music (starting with Dustin Kensrue)! I've already started on the handmade gifts as well. In fact, I will probably post about them pretty soon. And I will leave you with one last photo of yours truly...

Just a Camera and a Pile of Leaves

Image
A couple of weeks ago one of my former co-workers contacted me to shoot some photos of her family. She brought along her husband, two children, parents, and two nieces. I had so much fun shooting for this lovely family (and it wouldn’t have been possible without the assistant of my older brother, Trey). The kids loved being in front of camera and come up with some fun poses themselves. They built a pile of leaves and then threw them into the air all while they were laughing hysterically, of course. The wind blew relentlessly creating a chilly day despite the brilliant blue, cloudless sky. I was generally surprised at how cold it actually was, though I don’t believed the kids minded at all. Here are a few photos of the fun:          My brother's charming girlfriend (and one of my dear friends) asked my to assist her on a shoot scheduled for this weekend and of course I am more than willing to comply. She has some fanta...

Betelgeuse, Betelgeuse, Betelgeuse

My brother and I throw our second annual Halloween party and it was fantastically fun! We absolutely adore Halloween and horror movies so it makes sense that it was themed “Horror Movie”, right? Even though we ran out of food, laughs were found a plenty. In order to have a successful Halloween party one must have a kick butt costume and I wanted to give you guys a little break down of my the ideas behind mine and of course the outcome. After many mind changes, I settled on the iconic character Beetlejuice. I searched the internet for unique costume inspiration photos and this is what I found! The first inspiring idea came from the-coveted.com . I just love the unique and classy vibe it gaves off (especially the satin gloves and tie!). However, I don't have a very classy style. The second idea is from helloagaingirls.com  and honestly this is a bit too edgy for me, but I love love love those boots! So I have my inspiration and this is how I created my ...
